Xanatos Marine Ltd. is a worldwide provider of AIS (Automatic Identification System) based marine technology. Technologies developed by Xanatos Marine such as the AVIPS (Automatic Vessel Information for Ports and Surveillance) and the Titan Viewer online system are used globally to monitor a countries shoreline for illegal activities and Ports of the world to monitor local traffic. The current AVIPS provides the ability to detect and identify vessels. When combined with the VITALS (Vessel Information Tracking and Logging System), the software is able to track a vessel from the point where it has been reported as coming to the port to the final billing.
The VITALS provides several features for the AVIPS. However, it is a product that belongs to another company. In order to satisfy customer demands and remain leading in the industry, Xanatos Marine is now in the call of developing new features and expanding the capabilities of the existing AVIPS. To achieve this, a new Database design and several other features will be developed and integrated with the existing AVIPS. The new Database application will be capable of storing a huge amount of vessel information reports daily. As additional features, Xanatos Marine would like to provide their customers the ability to register to a specific port remotely through a web application. Also, a billing system should be integrated with the AVIPS. This system will allow the port facility owner to bill the ship crews for the time being in the dock. The company also wants the existing AVIPS to be able to organize history replay so that at any given time the clients could replay the history to see what the ship was doing at that time. Therefore, a history tracking and report generating system will be integrated with the AVIPS.
