The BVW project “Hors de Combat” is a 3rd person shooting game in 3D. It is done using the Unity3D engine. It is about a French pilot trying to survive and make her way home after being shot down behind enemy line.
My Role:
I was a programmer/artist/level designer in this project. I was responsible for integrating the Head Look Control system and modeling the Gate in Maya. I was also responsible for setting up the quest triggering points, AI patrolling points and weapon/damage/range data in game (level design).
What I learned:
This was my first time working with the Unity3D engine so everything was new when I started. Coming from the web developing/database administrating background, this was also my first time working with a team that consists 3D artists and game engineers. I have learned to communicate with people from different departments. I have also learned to create a simple 3D gate in Maya which was super exciting for me.
Head Look Control:
I integrated the HLC system so that the character’s head and upper body moves according to the mouse position. It makes the game look more realistic.
The HLC system is also utilized so that when the player aim with a gun, the gun, hand and arm position moves according to the target.
I am by no means an artist, but I made a simple 3D military gate in Maya.
